I don’t know what that is but it looks bad. Very bad. Why would anyone want that?

I mean if you roll the car, so long as the thing doesn’t fly completely out, won’t the weight of the car push it down into place? It’s a gamble but saves precious ounces of weight.

It’s a work in progress. Eventually he’ll fasten that down with some washers and a couple good drywall screws.

It’s manual too! He actually lives in that in this lot, but it fits right in with our Japanese car meet.

Well, the carpet is removed so maybe it is a work in progress. It obviously isn’t going to do its job like it is right now, but it certainly doesn’t make it less safe at least. It could just be a fit check and the guy is going to a shop to have it installed or waiting for a friend to help out. I imagine I would be driving around like this with my Miata once I buy a roll bar. Seems like the most logical place to store it before installation.

This is like the stance camber of roll protection.

It absolutely does make it less safe. If you crash and do roll over, that means more unsecured, heavy metal flying around the cabin as you roll.

And the answer is Miata.

I’m surprised it doesn’t fly around the cabin under regular driving

Well yes that is the $64,000 question. If the owner plans to get the thing screwed in then he/she will be fine. My question is why is not painted a color that goes with the cars color scheme. :P

Hope he’s just winging it for a fit check.

Agreed, if it's not tied down at all of course that is a bad thing. But that goes for any item. I would hope (but doubt) this guy bungee corded it down at least. I would probably use bungee and/or ratchet strap to temporarily secure it.
